Hi! My name is Jenna Sansone. I am currently a NYS Certified Childhood Education 1-6 instructor. I received my Masters Degree from Adelphi University in 2016 and have been working in the field of education in a variety of learning settings over the last six years. In my spare time, I enjoy trying new baking recipes, reading, exploring new hiking trails, and spending time with family and friends. I seek to promote and facilitate autonomous learning in any classroom or instructional environment so that learners are able to construct knowledge and meaningful information that is applicable to their everyday lives. It is also my goal to facilitate a genuine pursuit for knowledge within students. I have experience working in a variety of classroom settings and instructional environments including working in several self-contained bridge classes for grades K-2 and 3-5, and working as the lead teacher for two second grade classes. I believe that learning for each individual is a unique and tailored experience. I strive to include a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies within my own instruction to best meet the needs of any and all learners. Facilitating this customized instruction in the following subjects includes utilizing and practicing strategies such as:     

Literacy Comprehension: Reading comprehension (making connections, predictions, summarizing, recalling key details, identifying story elements), text decoding (defining and understanding new and unfamiliar vocabulary, using context clues), spelling (diphthongs, vowel teams), and writing (fiction, realistic fiction, informative pieces)  

Literacy Instruction: Decoding new vocabulary (using context clues, images, and other resources to make meaning of new and unknown vocabulary), spelling (diphthongs, digraphs, vowel teams, CVC, CVCC, magic 'E' words), and writing (punctuation, grammar, structure and inclusion of details)  

Mathematics: Addition (of two 1-digit numbers, of two 2-digit numbers, with regrouping, without regrouping), subtraction (of two 1-digit numbers, of two 2-digit numbers, with regrouping, without regrouping), place value (identifying place value, comparing place value, understanding place value in addition and subtraction), problem solving (word problems, missing values, addition, subtraction, comparing values), and critical thinking (explaining mathematical solutions, justifying and rationalizing solutions and thought processes)  

Science: Research (gathering information from different data sources, evaluating data, analyzing data to draw conclusions), applying the scientific method (making observations, testing a hypothesis, draw conclusions), and conducting experiments (observing patterns, physical vs. chemical changes, the five senses)    

Additionally to my teaching certification, I am able to provide content knowledge, classroom help and Regents Review support in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, and Physics.

It is my mission to facilitate a love for learning in all of my students. I believe this life-long passion for teaching and continually learning myself, is essential to foster a positive learning environment for students so that they may develop the desire to become life-long learners as well. I hope to instill that passion for learning in all learners. I model and teach my students with a growth mindset. Specifically, I believe all students can learn through their mistakes and can develop their skills and talents through effort and persistence. With that said, I whole-heartedly cannot wait to begin!

Teacher Certification Preparation

I have extensive expertise and experience with all NYS (and out-of-state) Teacher Certification Requirements such as the edTPA, CSTs (all parts), EAS, and Praxis exams. Since obtaining my own license and certification in 2016, I have worked with teacher candidates to support them as they pursue their own certification. My past experiences includes working with those certifying in Early Childhood Education B-2, Childhood Education Grades 1-6 and 7-12, Students with Disabilities B-2 and 1-6, Physical Education K-12 and many more! The certification process is rigorous and it is my aim to help teacher candidates through this process so they may pursue a career in education. My success and happiness in supporting teacher candidates comes from alleviating the pressures, stress, and confusion that the certification processes and exams can cause. It is a personal goal to customize preparation for each teacher candidate to best help them through the process by mentorship, encouragement and personalized support.

Hey everyone! I am a rising college senior studying for my baccalaureate in health sciences with a major in philosophy. I have been a pre-med student during my undergraduate studies but am now making the shift and am currently applying to graduate programs in education. I have worked as a peer tutor for most of my academic career and have developed many different study techniques as both a tutor and a student of my own. My favorite subjects are science (Biology, Living Environment, Chemistry, Anatomy+Physiology) and math (Pre-Algebra - Calculus), and as someone who has recently gone through the college application process, I can be a good resource on navigating this exciting yet confusing time. I have a passion for creativity, and I love using that as an output both in and out of the academic setting. My goal is to help each student recognize their own gifts and use their individual powers to reach their own goals! I believe that learning should be a fun and creative way to grow and I am excited to go on this journey with you!

Deborah Mazzant graduated from Penn State University with a double major in Applied Mathematics and Spanish with a minor in International Studies. She went on to get her teaching certification in mathematics. She has taught grades 7-12 and is comfortable tutoring through Calculus III. She has instructed AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics for over 6 years and consistently her students achieve scores higher than both the state of New York’s average and above the national average. She has received training to teach the SAT (math portion)and ACT (math portion) and has been tutoring for those standardized exams for many years. She has taught in private, charter, and public schools and has taught the Common Core for 12 years. She has over a 95% passing rate for the Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II Regents exams.

Apart from being a lover of academics, Deborah also knows she must balance that love with emotional health. She earned her yoga teacher certification 5 years ago and has taught people of all ages ranging from as young as 5 years old to over 60 years old. She has also designed and taught yoga programs for specific athletic sports, helping to improve flexibility, strength, and reduce the risk of injury. 

Throughout her 22 years of teaching she has maintained numerous relationships with her students and is proud to see them flourish into well-rounded adults. She believes that her passions for math and self-love will attract students to not only learn academic skills, but also the life skills that are needed to lead a successful and fulfilled life.

     My name is Jean McNally and I am a NYS certified, retired teacher of over 30 years. I graduated from SUNY Cortland with a B.S. in Elementary Education and then went on to obtain my Masters in Education from St. John’s University in Queens, NY. I have experience teaching Pre-K, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade. My experience includes working in both private and public school settings. After retiring from teaching in the classroom, I became a full time Kinder Age Caretaker as well as a Private Tutor. 

     I love to spend time with children and ensure that they are taking part in hands-on learning. During my many years of teaching in the classroom I always made sure to create new and creative ways for children to learn. I understand that every child is unique and believe that it is my job to tailor lessons to the needs of each child so that they are able to succeed. 

     Outside of teaching I enjoy yoga, being outside and active, gardening and reading a good book for my book club. I also love to spend time with my husband, my two great grown up kids, and friends.

Hi, my name is Christianna! I am currently a doctoral student in school psychology and working as a student clinician. I graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor’s in psychology and a minor in sociology. I became a New York State Certified Teacher’s Assistant and Substitute Teacher and worked with students with severe disabilities on the Autism Spectrum. I have experience teaching and tutoring in school, private clinic, and home settings. I have worked with students ranging from 6-18 years old and subjects ranging from elementary math to AP Biology. My favorite subjects are Psychology, English and Science.  I love meeting and helping new students and families. My goal is to help each student become successful throughout their academic careers. I believe learning should be fun, relatable, and accommodating for each student. I can’t wait to get started!
